Kannada actor Sharan’s next is the two-part Suni directorial, Avatar Purusha, the first of which, Ashtadigbandana Mandalaka, was supposed to release in December last year. That, however, did not happen, as it came way too close on the heels of Suni’s film with Ganesh, Sakath, which released at the end of November. The film(s) has been ready for a while, but the release has been delayed owing to the pandemic.
It was only last week that the makers, Suni and producer Pushkara Mallikarjunaiah of Pushkar Films, announced the new release date, zeroing in on May 6. Lead actor Sharan had earlier said that the team would release the second part within three months of the first, but there’s been no official confirmation on this. Earlier today, the team released a new teaser, which is the one currently playing in select cinema halls in Karnataka right now.
Avatar Purusha has Sharan playing a junior cine artiste, who is called in to pretend to be the long-lost son of Ram Jois (Saikumar) an Ayurveda practitioner. The film, which also stars Ashika Ranganath, Srinagara Kitty, Sudharani, Bhavya, Balaji Manohar and Sadhu Kokila, among many others, also deals with the practice of black magic. Avatara Purusha’s music is by composer Arjun Janya, while cinematography is by William David.
Meanwhile, Sharan has already finished work on his next, Guru Shishyaru, directed by Jadesha K Hampi, who made Prajwal Devaraj’s Gentleman earlier. Guru Shishyaru is a home production for Sharan, who plays a physical education teacher in this film set in the 80s.
