Badhaai Do is the first Bollywood release after the third wave of the pandemic.

Badhaai Do, Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar's new film, released in cinemas on February 11 to an abysmal start. The comedy, the first Bollywood release after the third wave, earned only Rs 1.65 crore on its first day.

Trade analyst shared the box office earnings of the film and noted that the bulk of footfall was from multiplexes in Mumbai, Delhi and NCR. Cinemas are still working at half capacity which could explain the box office collection. Besides Badhaai Do, the other major release on Friday was the Agatha Christie adaptation Death on the Nile.

Badhaai Do follows two closeted queer individuals who enter into a marriage of convenience to ward off pressure from their families. Suman Adhikary and Akshat Ghildial have written the story, while Harshvardhan Kulkarni directs and has also penned the screenplay.
The cast also includes Seema Pahwa, Sheeba Chaddha, Chum Darang and Nilesh Pandey.
