Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar’s particularly peculiar set of marital problems take centre stage in Badhaai Do. The makers have unveiled the latest song from the upcoming film’s soundtrack. Titled Bandi Tot, the peppy track gives viewers a glimpse into the chaotic set of dilemmas the newlyweds have to face in their ‘marriage of convenience.
The music video shows Shardul (Rao), having to deal with his wife Sumi’s (Pednekar) girlfriend, who lives with them under the guise of being Sumi’s cousin. Shardul is seen to be more than a little irritated with his third roommate, as the pair are seen to be at odds in several scenes, even seemingly getting jealous over Sumi’s affection. Meanwhile, Sumi and her girlfriend make the best of each other’s company, sharing some delightfully pleasant and loving moments. Viewers also see some of the complications this triad brings forth, as an unexpected visit by Sumi’s mother leaves them scrambling.
The song’s lyrics also communicate themes of marriage, seemingly hinting at the nature of Sumi and Shardul’s ‘arrangement’. The vibrant track has been sung by Ankit Tiwari and Nikhita Gandhi, with its lyrics being penned by Anurag Bhomia. Trivedi has composed the film’s music along with Tanishk Bagchi, Ankit Tiwari and Khamosh Shah.
The upcoming film is directed by Harshavardhan Kulkarni from a script, written by Suman Adhikary and Akshat Ghildial. The film’s story deals with the issues closeted members of the LGBTQ+ communities have to face due to familial pressures. Seema Pahwa, Sheeba Chaddha, Lovleen Mishra, Nitesh Pandey, Shashi Bhushan, Chum Darang and Deepak Arora also feature in the film.
Badhaai Do is slated to be released in theatres in India on February 11, 2022.
