Anirban Bhattacharya begins his directorial journey into the realm of feature films with a horror romantic comedy. Like his previous work Mandaar, the actor-director chose yet another play to tell his story. After William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, this time it is Badal Sircar’s Ballavpurer Roopkotha. Based on the text, Anirban, along with Pratik Dutta, penned the script. Satyam Bhattacharya and Surangana Bandyopadhyay will be seen as the lead.
The trailer shows a palatial yet dilapidated mansion owned by Bhupati Roy (Satyam) – a descendant of local Roy Bahaddur. Bhupati aims to sell the palace to repay the loans and settle down in life. Suddenly he gets a letter from a potential buyer and incidentally, his friend offers him a business proposal. He wants to impress the buyer with the help of his manservant. The buyer comes with his wife and daughter, played by Surangana. However, at this moment, we see the existence of Raghuda – the spirit who stays in the same property. The trailer also reveals two songs, one by Sahana Bajpaei. The film is slated to release this Diwali.
