The makers of the bilingual film, Balti, dropped a major update today (July 4). It has now been confirmed that Tamil musician Sai Abhyankkar will make his Malayalam debut with the sports drama, which stars Shane Nigam in lead role.

The young music director will compose the soundtracks and background score for the film, which will hit the big screen in Onam 2025. The newest addition was announced through a promo video in which Sai gets a sports jersey and a call from Mohanlal welcoming him to Malayalam cinema. Sai rose to fame with his compositions such as Katchi Sera and Aasa Kooda. He will also be working in Pradeep Ranganathan's Dude and Suriya's Karuppu. In the upcoming days, more details on Balti is anticipated.
According to the recent teaser, Shane Nigam's 25th film, Balti, would be released in theatres simultaneously in Malayalam and Tamil during Onam. RDX: Robert Dony Xavier, the actor's other film, was a huge box office hit when it was released on Onam in 2023.

This film is helmed by Unni Shivalingam, who is making his directorial debut. The screenplay for this sports action drama was written by the director himself. Balti is produced by Santosh T Kuruvilla and Binu Alexander George under the backing of STK Frames and Binu George Alexander Productions. Several locations in Pollachi, Palakkad, and Coimbatore were used for shooting the film. Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, a Tamil actor who gained popularity with his performance in Sakkarakatti, plays a significant role in Balti. Additionally, there have been claims that actual Kabbadi stars will appear in the film.
