Bangarraju's story is quite similar to the tale of the hare and the tortoise. Even when films like RRR, Radhe Shyam were making a lot of noise with their promotions, the makers of Bangarraju stuck to their guns sans any fuss and were very clear with their priorities. While one biggie after the other has exited the Sankranti race, the supposed underdog Bangarraju has now emerged a hot favourite among distributors and is the first choice of audiences for the festive season.

Produced by Annapurna Studios and ZEE Studios, the film stars Nagarjuna Akkineni, Naga Chaitanya, Ramya Krishna and Krithi Shetty in the lead. A sequel to Nagarjuna's hit Soggade Chinni Nayana, Bangarraju will hit theatres on January 14, the team confirmed at a press meet today. Soggade Chinni Nayana, too was a Sankranti release in 2016 and clicked big-time with the masses and critics alike. Meanwhile, the sequel is written and directed by Kalyan Krishna Kurasala, while veteran writer Satyanand has penned the screenplay.

Faria Abdullah will be seen in a special number Vaasivaadi Thassadiya in Bangarraju while Naga Babu, Chalapathi Rao, Rao Ramesh, Brahmaji, Vennela Kishore and Jhansi form a formidable supporting cast. Yuvraj has cranked the camera for the film that has music by Anup Rubens. Brahma Kadali is the art director.
