Created by Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks, Shōgun is a series based on the 1975 novel by James Clavell. Starring Hiroyuki Sanada, Cosmo Jarvis, Anna Sawai, Tadanobu Asano, Takehiro Hira, Tommy Bastow, and Fumi Nikaido, the drama series portrays the tale of two aspiring men from different cultures. We are introduced to daring English mariner John Blackthorne, who is shipwrecked in Japan; and Lord Toronaga – a powerful feudal lord, alienated even from his dangerous political competitors. Personally speaking, Shōgun is an adaptation that outshines the original and is worth watching at least once.
