‘Bhagya Lakshmi’ actor Mohit Malhotra speaks about his plans for Akshaya Tritiya

'Akshaya Tritiya', the auspicious Hindu festival is here and celebration plans are going on in full swing. OTTplay spoke exclusively to the Bhagya Lakshmi’ actor Mohit Malhotra, about what the day means to him. “It’s one of the holy days where you should buy something in gold, and when you do then it brings prosperity in your life and I really believe in that now. Akshaya Tritiya is a very auspicious day and I make sure to celebrate it, more so since the time I came to Mumbai. It’s so prevalent here and is considered a lucky day,” he said.

For the day, Mohit plans to catch up with his near and dear ones. “We usually get together with the family and have lunch together. We do a puja together and buy something new on this day. Celebrating this festival every year has its own significance. All years have been good and each year brings more love, blessings and affections from the people around you. I am very grateful for that,” he added.

Over the years the spirit and concept of ‘Akshay Tritiya’ has not changed, rather it has gone bigger. “With each year, people celebrate more. More people have gotten aware of it and it is getting bigger and better each year and that’s what I feel,” he said., In the same breeath, he also added that “The general concept/ tradition of ‘Akshaya Tritiya’ states that you need to buy gold on that day, as it’s considered extremely propitious. That's why I too buy gold. And I also remember buying a car on that day. But gold is something that I buy, in whatever quantity possible and I make sure that I buy something that I can keep for a longer period of time”.

When asked about his dress code for the day, Mohit said, “I am planning to wear a nice kurta pyjama and a jacket on that for Akshaya Tritiya. I look forward to such festivals as those are the times where you get to wear these attires. So, it’s going to be the traditional attire for the whole day as it's one day and, I am planning to make the full use of that”Ask him the ones he thinks are synonymous to gold in his life and he replied, “My mom, my brother and one of my best friends, Akshay”.

Since the day of Akshaya Tritiya coincides with Eid, Mohit said, “Actually, I go all out during such festivals and  love eating sweets and sheer kurma because it’s incredible. These are the days that come once in a year. I would workout a little more after that. I love eating the delicacies”.
