Bison Kaalamaadan, the Tamil sports drama and the fifth directorial of director Mari Selvaraj, has made Rs 31.5 crore at the box office, as it nears the completion of one week of theatrical run. The film is headlined by Dhruv Vikram, as it gears up for Telugu release on October 24.

Bison Kaalamaadan is the latest Tamil film, which features Dhruv, the son of actor Vikram, in the lead role. The sports drama, which is loosely based on the life of kabaddi player Manathi Ganesan, an Arjuna awardee, had opened to good reviews upon its release. However, at the box office, Bison has been facing tough competition from Pradeep Ranganathan’s romantic entertainer Dude.
As per Sacnillk, Bison has collected Rs 31.5 crore overall worldwide. While it is a decent number for Dhruv Vikram who is just starting out, the day-wise collection saw Rs 3 crore on Wednesday. As the rains hit Tamil Nadu and the Diwali holidays are over, Bison has been seeing a lull. However, with the film soon gearing up for Telugu theatrical release on October 24, Bison's collection might spike up if the film performs well in Telugu-speaking states. The makers claim Rs 35 crore as the worldwide gross.

Bison is yet another hard-hitting film that comes from director Mari Selvaraj. Exploring the caste politics, systematic oppression against the backdrop of sports, Dhruv Vikram plays the protagonist in this film, marking his first collaboration with Mari Selvaraj. The young actor plays Kittan, a kabaddi enthusiast who dreams of representing his country in a world competition.
The film also features senior actors like Pasupathy and Lal, along with Ameer, Anupama Parameswaran, and Rajisha Vijayan. With music by Nivas K Prasanna and Ezhil Arasu cranking the camera, Bison will stream on Netflix after its theatrical run. An OTT release date is yet to be announced by the makers.
