Shamshera, which was one of the most anticipated Bollywood releases of the year, hit theatres earlier on Friday. As fans are flocking to cinemas to get a taste of what Ranbir Kapoor’s movie has to offer, the actor has said that wife and star Alia Bhatt liked the movie.

Talking to the media during one of the promotional events, Ranbir said “Alia ne kal film dekhi, usne bahut pyaar dia.(Alia watched the movie and she gave it a lot of love). She really loved the film. That's a very big tick mark in my life. Acha hai, ghar pe biwi khush hai toh main khush hu(If the wife back home is happy, then I am also happy),” he said, as reported by Times of India.

In the same event, Ranbir also talked about Alia’s upcoming movie Darlings. Saying that he watched the movie, Ranbir called it a great movie. He added that Alia has delivered a performance as expected by everyone and that everyone will get to know it when it is released.

The movie hit theatres around the country on July 22, and has received mixed reactions so far. Shamshera has been released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu and is also available in IMAX.

Directed by Karan Malhotra, who has previously helmed Agneepath and Brothers, the period action drama is set in the late 1800s. The movie tells the tale of a hero who fights for the liberation of his people.

Apart from Ranbir, the movie also stars Vaani Kapoor as the female lead and Sanjay Dutt as the main antagonist. The movie is bankrolled by Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films.
