Producer Boney Kapoor is riding high on the success of his latest outing, Valimai, featuring Ajith Kumar in the lead role. This is their latest association after the hit Nerkonda Parvaai, the Tamil remake of Pink. During a recent interaction, Kapoor revealed that Ajith had been a huge fan of Sridevi, which made them collaborate.
Talking about the same, the producer told Firstpost that Nerkonda Parvaai was the catalyst. Then he added that it all began with English Vinglish, in which Ajith had a cameo appearance. Pink left a lasting impression on Kapoor and Sridevi, so they chose to shoot the film in the South. Ajith eagerly agreed to help.
When they chose Valimai, Ajith was as ecstatic as they were. Unfortunately, Sridevi had already left for her heavenly abode by the time everything was in place. Because of Ajith's admiration for Sridevi, he was willing to collaborate with them. In addition, Kapoor revealed that the late actor had worked with Ajith's wife and former actor Shalini Kumar in several films.
Kapoor's journey with Ajith is still going on. They have completed their second association and are now working on their third, which will begin sometime in March.
The producer called the actor a passionate performer who is also highly professional and truthful.
Meanwhile, Kapoor is all set to make his acting debut with the Luv Ranjan directorial in which he plays the role of Ranbir Kapoor's father. When asked by the portal what made him take up acting, he told the portal that his children encouraged him to pursue acting. Luv Ranjan approached him and told him that he had written the role of Ranbir's father based on his personality and that he wanted me to play it.
Kapoor declined, claiming that he was not an actor. Then Ranjan went to see Arjun Kapoor, and the entire family, including his brother Sanjay Kapoor, gathered. They insisted that Kapoor do the film, and that's how he took the plunge, and he had a great time doing it.
Kapoor shot the movie for 40 days and only had about 40 lines or sentences to say. The film is essentially set in a North Indian environment, similar to Hum Aapke Hain... Koun!
