Brahmastra song Deva Deva: Ranbir Kapoor plays with fire and dances to its tune in the intriguing track

After being teased twice, the second song from Brahmastra is finally out. The track is touted to be the soul of the film as it's about Ranbir Kapoor's character Shiva. In the song, we see the actor as the lead role, discovering his power of fire and learning to control it. He is seen doing so under the guidance of Amitabh Bachchan, who plays a pivotal role in the film.

From creating a magnificent bird to breaking wood with fire, Ranbir does it all in the song crooned by Arijit Singh. The singer's voice adds more soul to the song, which is penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya and the music is composed by Pritam Chakraborty.

Deva Deva also features Alia Bhatt, who is the female lead in Brahmastra. Her presence brings a more romantic touch to the song, which is a blend of spiritual and party trance.

While describing the song, director Ayan Mukerji wrote on his Instagram page that it's a song in which Shiva, the song's main character, finally discovers his powers, and in doing so, he pours Divine Energy into the fire all around him. He further writes that it's comparable to Lord Shiva's dhyaan (cross-legged posture), the first representation of meditation in the cosmos.

Mukerji also wrote that it's a song where the protagonist Shiva knows his potential by realising that in order to control the fire outside, he must first feel the fire inside. A song that, ever since Pritam made it, has given him so much energy.

The filmmaker also stated that the film gave him courage during difficult times. He actually listened to it before each important meeting he had to attend over the past few years. When he played Deva Deva to his buddies in the middle of the night, give him Dance. When he's driving alone, give him opportunities to sing loudly and badly. Most importantly, Brahmastra, which is one and the same thing, gives soul to his life.

Brahmastra is slated for release on September 9, 2022.
