India was named the official "nation of honour" during the Marche' Du Films, popularly known as the Cannes Film Market, last week. Anurag Thakur, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, will lead the Indian team to Cannes, which will include actors, singers, and composers.

As reported by Times of India, Akshay Kumar, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, AR Rahman, and R Madhavan are among those from the film and music industries who will walk the red carpet at the opening ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival. Tamannaah Bhatia, Pooja Hegde, CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) president Prasoon Joshi, director Shekhar Kapur, and folk performer Mame Khan will also be in attendance.

Meanwhile, the Indian line-up includes the premiere of R Madhavan's Rocketry: The Nambi Effect on May 19, as well as a screening of the colourised version of G Aravindan's 1978 feature Thampu.

After Rishab Shetty's film Pedro, we shall watch his other film Shivamma, which will premiere at the Festival.

All That Breathes, a documentary directed by Delhi-based Shaunak Sen, will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022. The plot revolves around two brothers, Mohammad Saud and Nadeem Shehzad, who have dedicated their lives to saving and caring for the Black Kite (Birds).

There will also be a 10-film showcase of Satyajit Ray filmography to honour him on his birth anniversary.

Deepika Padukone is a part of the Cannes Film Festival's eight-member competition jury this year, which also includes prominent names like actor-filmmaker Rebecca Hall and Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi.

Cannes will take place from May 17 to May 22.
