Dhanush’s next release, Captain Miller, that is directed by Arun Matheswaran, is slated to be released in theatres on January 12
The eagerly anticipated trailer for Dhanush’s period war drama Captain Miller is finally here. The makers released the action-packed trailer and it was well worth the long wait. The high-octane trailer begins with visuals of an army of Britishers marching towards their vehicles, with the voiceover, “He is the robber to the white men.” Priyanka Mohan’s character, who is a villager, says, "If I were a killer like you, I would have killed him.” As people try to explore the mysterious character who is known to be notorious in the eyes of all, Dhanush’s character appears and says, "Who I am depends on who you are and what you want."
‘The devil called Captain Miller’
The trailer has a series of violent shots of gruesome action scenes, including shots of Dhanush and Priyanka Mohan’s characters killing men left and right. The Britishers, who are looking to begin mining, are targeted by Captain Miller (Dhanush) and it appears that he is at war with them. Shivarajkumar is also seen in the trailer, which ends with Dhanush’s monologue, “If you believe in evil, I am the devil and you will call me Captain Miller.”
The trailer is set in the British era and has a power-packed action-thriller vibe to it. Dhanush plays a ruthless killer who seems to be on a mission to avenge his past. Priyanka Mohan also has a powerful role. Although the film is set in the British era, it looks like the period drama is set to deliver a lot more. Despite gore and violence, the film will make for a promising watch and is going to be a Pongal treat for fans.
While releasing the trailer on social media, the makers wrote, “The Massive Action Extravaganza #CaptainMillerTrailer is here”. Helmed by Arun Matheswaran, the movie also stars Shivarajkumar, Sundeep Kishan, Priyanka Mohan, Nassar, Vinoth Kishan, and others. It is slated to release on January 12 for Pongal.
Dhanush: Captain Miller’s final cut turned out exactly as Arun had narrated it to me
At the audio launch event for Captain Miller, Dhanush heaped praise on his director, Arun Matheswaran. The actor revealed that although he was not confident about Arun pulling off a film on such a high scale, the final cut cleared his doubts. “When I first saw Arun, I wondered if he would be able to make this film. He narrated the script for 15 minutes and I asked him if he would be able to pull it off as the scale is huge. For all my questions, his answer was "yes". Now that I have watched the film, I am happy that it is exactly as he narrated it to me in the beginning. That’s when I realised that he is an asset and you will get to witness that, especially after watching the last 30 minutes of Captain Miller,” the actor elaborated.
Shivarajkumar on working with Dhanush
Kannada superstar Shivarajkumar, who had a stellar cameo in Rajinikanth's blockbuster 2023 film Jailer, is returning to Tamil films with a pivotal role in Captain Miller alongside Dhanush. At the audio launch event, Shivanna (as the actor is fondly known) revealed why he chose to be part of the film. “I told the makers that I would do the movie for Dhanush, even if they didn't narrate the story to me. I have admired him since his first film. I see me in him. He is one of the finest actors in the world," Shivarajkumar had said.
