A Chennai theatre is all set to screen Suriya's critically acclaimed films Soorarai Pottru and Jai Bhim on the occasion of his upcoming birthday (July 23). Interestingly, both these films had a direct OTT release as the films were released during the pandemic. While Soorarai Pottru released on Amazon Prime Video on November 2020, Jai Bhim released on the same digital streaming portal on November 2, 2021.

It was only recently that a theatre in Trivandrum, too, had announced the screening of Suriya's Jai Bhim in the theatre on the occasion of the actor's birthday. A video of Lijimol Jose, who played one of the lead characters in Jai Bhim, wishing Suriya fans has surfaced on the internet, in which she is seen saying, "It was everyone's wish to see Jai Bhim in theatres and I am glad that some of you are going to experience the film in theatres. I also hope you all have a fantastic birthday bash as well. "

The film had Suriya, Lijimol Jose, Manikandan, Prakash Raj, Rajisha Vijayan, Rao Ramesh, Thamizh and Sibi Thomas to name a few. Sean Roldon has scored the music for the film.

On the other hand, Soorarai Pottru, starring Suriya and Aparna Balamurali in the lead, was directed by Sudha Kongara. The plot was loosely inspired by the life of lowcost airline Air Deccan founder Captain GR Gopinath. The star cast for the film included Paresh Rawal (marking his debut in Tamil), Mohan Babu, Urvashi, Karunas, Krishnakumar, Vivek Prasanna, Kaali Venkat,Vinodhini Vaidyanathan, Prakash Belawadi, Dan Dhanoa, G Gnanasambandam to name a few.
