Vicky Kaushal has been getting tremendous praise for his role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in Chhaava, but do you know that he wasn't even the original choice for the film? The movie was originally supposed to feature Mahesh Babu as the male lead. More so, Rashmika Mandanna was not the first choice for the female lead either. It was Katrina Kaif. Here's everything you wanted to know...
Mahesh Babu seemed least interested in Chhaava when approached for it, a report on Siasat suggests. Thus, it was after he rejected the movie that Vicky Kaushal bagged it. Laxman Utekar was reportedly the director on board even at that point, and he decided to rope in Vicky for the lead role.
Even if they are married, Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif are yet to appear in a movie together. Chhaava was supposed to be the very film where they could have worked together since Katrina Kaif was the original choice for Rashmika Mandanna's role, Yesubai Bhonsale. For reasons that remain unknown, things did not work out for Katrina either and thus, Rashmika came on board and ended up playing the female lead in Chhaava.
Chhaava is a movie that has gone beyond being a cinematic experience. There are viewers who are worshipping Vicky Kaushal in the role of Sambhaji Maharaj. The movie continues to break various Box Office records too, and is very close to beating the record of Vicky's superhit 2019 movie, URI: The Surgical Strike.
Upon noticing the Bollywood-esque lezim dance in Chhaava, protest groups demanded that the same be deleted from the movie. After convincing from politician Raj Thackeray, Laxman Utekar decided to comply. If the makers hadn’t taken down the particular scene, they were threatened with a ‘won’t allow the film to release’ warning from the groups. Now, though, it’s a different story after the release, since Chhaava witnesses new forms of success with each passing day.
