Actor Siddharth is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film, Chithha, which is billed as a hard-hitting emotional drama. The film, directed by SU Arun Kumar of Pannaiyarum Padminiyum fame, is slated to hit screens on September 28.

First film in his 2.0 version
Siddharth has a slew of films lined up after a hiatus. After a special screening of Chithha last evening in Chennai , the actor said that he considered Chithha his first film in the 2.0 version. He added that he was proud to have produced the film under the Etaki Entertainment banner. Siddarth said that Chithha was a story of an unexpected incident that happens in the lives of regular people.

Mani Ratnam on Chithha
Siddharth stated that after a long time he had the courage to screen a film of his to his gurus Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan. "You need a lot of guts to show the film before its release and Arun Kumar instilled that courage in me. Mani Ratnam sir and Kamal Haasan sir, both watched the film and gave very positive feedback. I consider them watching the film a big honour, so to get encouraging statements and positive feedback about the film would remain an unforgettable moment in my entire life."

And that's not all, ace filmmakers Vetri Maaran, Pushkar and Gayatri, Premkumar, SP Sakthivel, Rathnakumar are all in praise for the film.

All about Chithha
The film revolves around the relationship between an uncle and his niece and how an unexpected incident turns their life topsy turvy. The actor's performance as a vulnerable and helpless father figure, has always won acclaim. Chithha also marks the Tamil debut of Nimisha Sajayan, who shot to fame with The Great Indian Kitchen. Music for the film is by Vishal Chandrasekhar and Dhibu Ninan Thomas. Cinematography is by Balaji Subramanyam and editing is by Suresh A Prasad.
