The upcoming film City Hunter is adapted from Japanese best-selling manga by Tsukasa Hojo. Netflix will premiere this high-octane action film on April 25. It traces the dynamic duo of Ryo Saeba and Hideyuki as they embark on an adventurous ride to solve crimes.
Earlier in April, the makers dropped the highly anticipated trailer for City Hunter which showcases private investigators Ryo Saeba and Hideyuki as partners in crimes. The dynamic duo takes up intriguing and challenging criminal investigations to provide justice to innocent victims. When they begin with the mysterious case of cosplayer Kurumi, a tragedy hits them with Hideyuki’s sudden death, and Ryo’s life spirals into a dark turn.
Helmed by Yuichi Satoh, City Hunter is set in modern-day Shinjuku, Tokyo, and revolves around Ryo Saebo, aka City Hunter, who works to sweep away crimes with his partner and close friend Hideyuki. The series has a compelling narrative with fascinating investigations revolving around drug cartels, criminal organisations and others. Ryo’s life takes a dark turn when he loses his best friend one day to a mysterious murder and pledges to hunt down his killer and team up with Hideyeki's sister.
City Hunter also features prominent stars in key roles, including Misato Morita as Kaori, Masanobu Ando as Hideyuki Makamura, and Fumino Kimura as Saeko Nogami (a police detective).
City Hunter makes for a promising watch as it efficiently blends action, comedy, and adventures to offer a layered narrative that never gets boring or monotonous because of witty dialogues.
