Written and directed by Michihito Fujii of The Last 10 Years fame, The Parades explores grief, life-and-death, acceptance, and other heavy themes with a dramatic storyline of the beyond world. In the trailer that was dropped on February 6, the female protagonist, Minako, is unaware that she has passed on to the world of the dead and struggles to accept the reality that no one can communicate with her. However, she soon meets a young man who accompanies her to the “beyond world,” where she gets to meet different people who are struck between the two realms as they have some unfinished deeds with their loved ones.

The trailer offers insights into the departed people’s world as they grapple to accept their fate while transcending from the living to the grieving dead. It also beautifully signifies the two worlds connected by powerful love. The makers have also highlighted the regrets and life’s bad choices as one of the characters poignantly asks how long she will be in the same hell.

Brace yourself to witness this journey of grief and emotional healing from February 29 onward.
