The city's Hind Rakshak Sangathan has filed a charge against actress Taapsee Pannu for inciting hatred and disseminating obscenity, police announced on Monday. Eklavya Singh Gaur, the convener of the Hind Rakshak Sangathan and the son of BJP Lawmaker Malini Gaur, has filed this complaint. In his case, Gaur claimed that on March 14, 2023, the actress posted a video on her Instagram.

The video, which depicts her purportedly donning a provocative dress and a jewellery featuring Goddess Lakshmi, is of a fashion presentation, the complaint claims.

As part of a display for Reliance Jewels' "Akshaya Tritiya" collection, Taapsee walked the runway. The social media pages of Reliance Jewels have also released pictures and videos of Taapsee's dress from the exhibition. On social media, Taapsee has also come under fire from some who think the outfit was disrespectful to Hinduism.

“We received a complaint from Eklavya Gaur (son of BJP MLA Malini Gaur) against actor Taapsee Pannu for hurting religious sentiments and image of ‘Sanatan Dharma’ by wearing a locket having ‘Goddess Laxmi’ with revealing dress during ramp walk at Lakme Fashion Week held on March 12 in Mumbai,” SHO, Chhatri Pura PS told ANI.

He added that an investigation was being conducted into the incident.

In 2021, Aklavya Gaur made headlines when he filed a complaint against stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui, claiming that by making jokes about Hindu deities, he had offended religious feelings. Before the Supreme Court granted him release on February 5, 2021, Munawar had been imprisoned in Indore for more than a month.
