Lokesh Kanagaraj confirms Kaali Venkat in Rajinikanth’s multi-starrer; ‘Only through Coolie, I was able to get a chance…’

Actor Kaali Venkat, whose recent film Madras Matinee is running in theatres, is part of the upcoming multi-starrer Coolie, which is headlined by actor Rajinikanth. While praising Madras Matinee, the director of Coolie, Lokesh Kanagaraj, revealed that it was nice working with Kaali Venkat.

Madras Matinee is a 2025 Tamil film which released in theatres last week. Starring Kaali Venkat, Sathyaraj and others, the film opened to good reception upon its release. Recently, Lokesh Kanagaraj who is directing Coolie said that he watched the film and loved it. He also revealed that Kaali Venkat is a part of Coolie.

Praising Madras Matinee, Lokesh said, "I watched the film and really liked it so much. Everyone has performed well. I have liked all of Kaali Venkat anna's films, and only through Coolie, I was able to get a chance to work with him. He had performed really well, along with Sathyaraj sir and others. Anyone with a middle-class upbringing would be able to connect with the film. Especially the last shot, and a few other moments connect with us.” The Coolie director also conveyed his wishes to the team.

Madras Matinee is currently running in theatres and is directed by Karthikeyan Mani. Kaali Venkat, Shelly, Roshni Haripriyan, Vishva, among many others play important roles.

Coolie release date:

Coolie is gearing up for a theatrical release on August 14. Produced by Sun Pictures, the film features Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Upendra, Aamir Khan, Shruti Haasan and others. Anirudh Ravichander is scoring music for the action thriller, which does not fall under LCU. With Rajinikanth headlining the film, it marks the first time Lokesh is working with the superstar.

The makers of Coolie will begin with the promotions, with the first single to be released anytime in June or July. With a star-studded ensemble, Aamir Khan had confirmed that he will play a cameo and appear towards the end.
