Crew, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kriti Sanon, and Tabu, had a successful box office debut and continued to perform well over the weekend. According to the production team, Crew earned Rs 11.45 crore on Sunday, bringing its total domestic earnings to Rs 32.7 crore. The film's global revenue stands at Rs 62.53 crore. In response to the film's success, director Rajesh A Krishnan shared his thoughts on the possibility of a sequel.
During a chat with India Today, Rajesh A Krishnan discussed the potential for a sequel to Crew. He said only film producer Rhea Kapoor can firmly answer such questions. “But for me, whether Crew 2 happens or not will depend on the script. What I read and what material develops is going to be very important. I am overwhelmed by the love that has come our way for Crew,” Krishnan added.
It was the first time that Kareena, Kriti, and Tabu were featured together in a film. If the film earns over Rs 100 crore globally, then it will be the fifth film of 2024 to cross this mark. Fighter, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, Article 370, and Shaitaan have already minted over Rs 100 crores at the box office globally.
In the film Crew, three flight attendants Kriti, Kareena, and Tabu are facing the challenges of their unfulfilling jobs and financial troubles. Their lives take a dramatic twist when they find gold bars hidden beneath a sleeping passenger. They decide to keep the treasure for themselves, indulging in a lavish lifestyle. However, their joy is cut short when they realize that the authorities are after them. Diljit Dosanjh plays a cunning customs officer, while Kapil Sharma adds an element of danger to their situation as they face the potential consequences of their actions.
Soon after the film’s release, many social media users felt that the movie presented a comical version of the controversial Kingfisher saga. Vijay Mallya is an accused in the alleged ₹900-crore IDBI Bank-Kingfisher Airlines loan fraud case.
