Daali Dhananjaya is quite easily one of the most sought-after actors working in Kannada Cinema today who currently boasts of a superb lineup of projects. From gritty biographical dramas such as Head Bush to soothing and emotional romance stories like Monsoon Raaga, Dhananjaya’s upcoming filmography is a perfect enunciation of his wide acting range.

In the same vein arrives another rivetting project titled that sees Dhananjaya collaborate with his Rathnan Prapancha director Rohit Padaki. It was announced back in June of this year that Rohit Padaki will be reuniting with KRG Studios for a project called Uttarakaanda which was scheduled to go on floors in 2023: the makers, however, were yet to reveal the main cast and crew of the film.

Now, on the special occasion of Daali Dhananjaya’s birthday (August 23), the team of Uttarakaanda took to social media to unveil the first look of the film and also announced merrily that he (Dhananjaya) will be headlining the gangster drama.

“FROM NOW ON, IT WILL ONLY BE WAR,” read the first-look poster of Uttarakaanda which also featured a rather rugged and resilient Dhananjaya. With blood dripping down his face and hands, and a pair of broken sunglasses lending him an edgy look, Dhananjaya looks the part of a gangster to perfection. The fact that he smokes both a cigar and a beedi at the same time makes things all the more fascinating!

As per reports, Uttarakaanda will be a contemporary gangster drama that shows the protagonist’s rags-to-riches journey. The title also refers to the Northern region of Karnataka which serves as the film’s main setting and the narrative will explore the lives of those engrossed in the gangster world.

The same reports reveal that the makers plan on casting big names in the film with Shiva Rajkumar too being one of the contenders. Although the makers haven’t divulged the plans of the turning this into a franchise, the first-look poster that the vast story could be split into a prologue and an epilogue.

Charan Raj will be scoring the music of the film with Swamy coming onboard as the cinematographer, Deepu S. Kumar as the editor, and Vishwas as the art director.
