Darling Krishna and Puneeth Rajkumar’s Oh My Kadavule remake, Lucky Man, release pushed because of KGF: Chapter 2?

According to a source close to the team, the film was to be an early May release, but its OTT agreement would have meant a clash with KGF: Chapter 2 on the same platform

The late Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar’s James is his last commercial release, but fans will have a few more chances to see him on the big screen, namely, Lucky =Man, the Oh My Kadavule remake in which the actor plays god and has a pivotal role, as well as his wildlife docu-feature Gandhada Gudi. Luckyman has Puneeth in a role that Vijay Sethupati did in the original.

Directed by Nagendra Prasad, who is choreographer-director-actor Prabhudheva’s younger brother, Lucky Man’s Puneeth portions were apparently mostly shot indoors, so, the team had said that they are hopeful of retaining his voice in the film. In March, the makers and their distribution partner KRG Connects had posted on social media, “A man who is Immortal is "God" & that "𝐆𝐨𝐝 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐨𝐨𝐧" #LuckyMan.”

A source tells us that the team was looking at a May 10 release for the Darling Krishna, Roshni Prakash and Puneeth Rajkumar starrer, which also features a special dance with the late Power Star and Prabhudheva. However, the digital rights of Lucky Man have apparently been picked up by Amazon Prime Video for an on or before 30-days of theatrical release agreement, which would mean that its OTT outing would almost coincide with that of KGF: Chapter 2 on the same platform. “KGF: Chapter 2 has a 50-days contract, so if Lucky Man sticks to its current plan, both films will be out on Prime Video around the same time. The makers of Lucky Man are now looking to push its theatrical release ahead to avoid this clash,” says the source.
