Darshan: Stardom is a gift from my celebrities; my focus is to sustain it by entertaining them

Challenging Star Darshan has a filmi background, but that did not give him an easy route into cinema. He’s had his share of trials and tribulations in his 25-year-old career. Despite the massive stardom he enjoys today, the actor often talks about his early days, the challenges he overcame along the way and how he owes his success to his fans, who he calls his celebrities.

For his celebrities, Darshan is DBoss, whom they’ve kept on a pedestal. The actor is forever grateful of this love and has been quoted as saying that his stardom is nothing but a gift from his celebrities, wherein his focus has been on trying to stay in the position they’ve elevated him to with entertaining cinema. In this endeavour, Darshan admits that he’s made mistakes. “I know that I have done some bad films. These were all projects that were made with the same passion as any other, in the hope that they succeed at the box office. But for whatever reasons, they would not work at that point of time. I can’t ensure that every film becomes a hit – I am only human, not god. What I can do is to keep trying and giving people what they will enjoy,” he said in an interview with an online channel for the promotion of his upcoming release, Kranti.

Darshan added that cinema is the only field in which people help you grow not only with their love, but with their money too. “But they will allow you to enjoy this growth only if you have the capability to entertain them. There are dime a dozen heroes in the industry, but how many of them have a successful trajectory?” he asked, and went on to cite the example of father-son duo Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan, where the latter has not been able to enjoy or replicate the stardom that his father has.
