Demon Slayer Hashira Training Arc episode 5 Story

Tanjiro is headed from one training to another in order to save his sister Nezuko from Muzan Kibusuji. After Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji, he trains with Snake Hashira Obanai Iguro, Wind Hashira Sanemi Shinazugawa, and eventually, Stone Hashira Gyomei Himejima.

Demon Slayer Hashira Training Arc episode 5 review

For the first time since the season, the makers commence the story exactly where the previous episode ended. This means that Tanjiro is training with Kanroji, and her training is, well, different.

All the men in the room feel less manly thanks to the clothes they wear. Tanjiro stands out even now, but in a different way.

There are fun moments when Kanroji is involved. Of course, Tanjiro's reactions take the cake as well.

In a blink, Tanjiro's world takes a 360-degree turn as he begins training with Snake Hashira Obanai Iguro. The previous episodes are proof that Iguro is not someone to mess with, and he will not let you mess with him, except when it comes to Kanroji. Iguro's reactions (only through eye expressions) change drastically upon reading her letter. Jealously creeps in as she praises Tanjiro and it is a sight you do not want to miss.

The minute Tanjiro sees Iguro's chambers, his expressions say it all. Their interactions are almost always fun guaranteed. This is till Iguro gets serious and the training actually begins. Soon after, it is brutal. Tanjiro is in pain during the day and at night. He is mentally taxed in the day and physically stressed at night. Despite it all, he has to overcome the hurdles. Even by the end of the training, Iguro warns Tanjiro to stay away from Kanroji. It is cute how this demon of a Hashira gets jealous and shows it in his own way.

Zenitsu makes a comeback after episode 1 and as expected, Tanjiro and Zenitsu find their own way of greeting each other, in their weird style.

Wind Hashira Sanemi Shinazugawa's introduction to the episode is typically him. Thanks to the introduction, we get to know who Tanjiro will train with next. In their first meeting, Tanjiro totally stands up to Sanemi and that leaves the latter obviously impressed but even more, angry (of course).

Genya is finally back in this season, and he meets his brother Sanemi. The latter is furious and believes in what he has over the years, that he has no family left. That is where it begins. Their tragic backstory replays in your head thanks to the scenes unfolding in front of you.

It is where Genya confesses that he has eaten a demon to come so far. One can obviously expect Sanemi's reaction on hearing that. To say it is extreme is an understatement.

The makers keep it all under wraps and we are left with Zenitsu's usual reaction on seeing his trainer. Thankfully, Tanjiro comes to save the day. Not just save the day, he goes on to make it with a surprise move.

Genya and Zenitsu's moment is also something you do not want to miss. Thanks to the moment between the brothers, we get to witness unity once again. Now, Tanjiro and Sanemi have to maintain distance. Thanks to the brawl, Zenitsu and Tanjiro both head over to train with Stone Hashira Gyomei Himejima.

Just as you would expect from Himejima, the training is what you have seen in Naruto. It is under the waterfall. He himself trains around the fire. Seeing the sight, Tanjiro and Zenitsu have their usual but still epic reactions.

You get to meet Insouke too this episode, in a surprise scene. With that, the episode marks Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke's reunion.

The post-credit scene, not very surprisingly, is about Iguro. His features, a different colour on each eye, are discussed.

Demon Slayer Hashira Training Arc episode 5 verdict

This episode has quite a few surprises and funny moments. It marks the reunion of Genya and Zenitsu. While Genya’s backstory with Sanemi is not explored, we already know what has happened. Iguro is the surprise in this episode, and Inosuke makes a cameo appearance. So, while there are moments, it is not packaged perfectly, mainly because the story moves forward too fast in order to end the Hashira training quicker.
