Due to a tragic medical diagnosis, legendary actor Bruce Willis has retired from acting. He was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, aka FTD, in February this year. As he and his family continue to battle with the disease, the famous Detective Knight franchise arrives at Lionsgate Play to rekindle the fond memories of a still-kicking-and-punching Willis as the titular hero.
The third part of the franchise, Detective Knight: Independence will drop on Lionsgate Play on December 15, 2023. The film was released theatrically earlier this year, in January and had made more than USD 36,000 internationally. Its trailer had been dropped on December 21, 2022.
The film stars Bruce Willis, as well as Jack Kilmer as Dezi, Dina Meyer as Charlotte Burnham, Lochlyn Munro as Fitzgerald, Willow Shields as Ally, Michael Sparks as Nico, Mark Hewlitt as Kirill, Timothy V. Murphy as Vincent, Jimmy Jean-Louis as Detective Godwin Sango, Lorenzo Antonucci as George, Dina Meyer as Charlotte Burnham, Robert Laenen as McQueen, Joe Munroe as Robin, and Kimberly Pember as Camilla, among others.
The official plot synopsis reads, “Bruce Willis stars as Detective James Knight in this final, tense chapter of the trilogy. Knight’s last-minute assignment to the Independence Day shift turns into a race to stop an unbalance ambulance EMT from imperiling the city’s festivities.”
“The misguided vigilante, playing cop with a stolen gun and uniform, has a bank vault full of reasons to put on his own fireworks show...one that will strike dangerously close to Knight’s home.” Directed by Edward Drake, who has worked on the previous Detective Knight films as well, the film promises grit and an adrenaline rush like the previous ones, for when danger strikes near home, it becomes a matter of the kill-or-be-killed instinct.
