Kangana Ranaut is known for essaying strong-willed women in her movies. And now, she is all set to appear as an action star with Dhaakad. The actor recently opened up about heroines doing action in Indian cinema.

Talking to IANS, she said, "Along with the success of 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi', I also enjoyed the love and admiration that came my way for the way I pulled off the action scenes in that film. In our cinema, we rarely have heroines performing action scenes in the real sense.”

The actor added that she was happy when the movie came her way because someone had dared to visualise a woman in a hardcore commercial film as an action heroine. She further added that she is all in daredevilry and doing something that pushes the envelope and there's nowhere better to do it than in a commercial movie.

The actor plays Agent Agni in the movie and was seen slaying bad guys and taking them on with katana and knives in the teaser that was released yesterday. Kangana has gone through extensive training to play the spy on screen.

Apart from Kangana, the movie also features Arjun Rampal as the main antagonist. Rampal has also reportedly gone through training to make his action sequences look authentic. The movie also features Divya Dutta and Saswata Chatterjee among others.

Directed by Razneesh Ghai, the movie is backed by Asylum films, Soham Rockstar Entertainment, and Sohel Maklai Productions. The movie, which will release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam, is set to hit theatres on May 20.
