The makers of Dhadak 2 have officially announced that the trailer will be released this Friday, in anticipation of the film's August 1, 2025, theatrical release. Featuring lead actors Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri in a passionate embrace, the first-look posters were released accompanying the announcement.

Hindi remake of critically acclaimed Pariyerum Perumal

This Shazia Iqbal-helmed film is the official Hindi adaptation of the highly regarded Tamil original Pariyerum Perumal. The 2018 film received acclaim for its honest depiction of social injustice and caste discrimination as well as its strong performances. Dhadak 2 is an effort to inject the Hindi mainstream with the same level of reality and intensity.

The posters that the team has released convey powerful messages. "When surrender means death… fight!" one version says that, whereas the Hindi version says, "Marne aur ladne mein se ek ko chunna ho… toh ladna." A love narrative characterised by resistance, conflict, and broader social criticism is hinted at by these taglines.

Tone shift from Dhadak

Dhadak 2 looks to be more grounded, carrying the political and emotional weight of its Tamil source material, in contrast to Dhadak (2018), which was a remake of Sairat that opted for a more romanticised tone. Neelesh, played by Siddhant Chaturvedi, is a young man from an oppressed family, while Vidhi, played by Triptii Dimri, is a woman trying to find her place in society.

The film's certification process took longer than expected, delaying its release from mid-2025. There were several references and phrases in the original cut that dealt with caste that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) found objectionable. Following multiple edits that included the removal of scenes, changes to disclaimers, and the muted use of slurs, the film was finally given a U/A 16+ classification. Given the film's delicate subject matter and the producers' determination to remain faithful to the original's social satire, the delay caused a stir in the industry.

Strong creative team

Rahul Badwelkar and Shazia Iqbal penned the script and the dialogue. Karan Johar, Marijke deSouza, Apoorva Mehta, Meenu Aroraa, Somen Mishra, Adar Poonawalla, Umesh Kumar Bansal, and Pragati Deshmukh are all involved in producing the film.

After its August 1 theatrical release, Dhadak 2 will have its digital premiere on Netflix. However, this socially charged love story will finally have its first decent glimpse during Friday's trailer release.
