After Venu Yeldandi, another comedian is trying his hand at direction for an emotional drama. Dhanraj, who shot to fame with Jabardasth and made a mark in Telugu cinema in a wide variety of roles, has been picking his films wisely in the recent past. He has commenced work on two films recently - his directorial debut and the sequel to his hit thriller Bujji Ila Raa, directed by Garudavega Anji.
Dhanraj’s yet-to-be-titled directorial debut also stars Samuthirakani and popular multilingual actor Harish Uthaman in crucial roles. The film, produced by Prudhvi Polavarapu under Slate Pencil Stories, was launched on a grand note in Hyderabad a few weeks ago. Today, the makers of the film have announced that the project’s first schedule will officially go on floors later this week on November 9.
The film will reportedly explore a never-seen-before facet of the father-son equation in Telugu cinema and promises to be entertaining simultaneously. Siva Prasad Yanala, who directed Samuthirakani’s hard-hitting Vimanam this June, has written the story and dialogues for Dhanraj’s film. Arun Chiluveru has come on board as the music director. Prabhakar Aripaka is the presenter of the drama.

As an actor, Dhanraj has had two releases this year - Vimanam and Bhuvana Vijayam. While Vimanam can be streamed on ZEE5, the latter is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video. While he initially did a slew of comedy roles after entering films, Dhanraj has been conscious of his choices in the recent months. One can’t wait to see how he fares as a director with his upcoming film.
Some of Dhanraj’s most popular films as an actor are Raju Gari Gadhi, Gopala Gopala, Julayi, Eega, Manamantha, Express Raja, Kalyana Vaibhogame, and Bhaagamathie. He also acted in the Hindi version of Bhaagamathie titled Durgamati: The Myth.
