Thiruchitrambalam, starring Dhanush, will hit the screens on July 1. Directed by Mithran Jawhar, Thiruchitrambalam, touted to be a family drama, marks the fourth collaboration of the actor and filmmaker, following Kutty, Yaaradi Nee Mohini and Uthamaputhiran.

Thiruchitrambalam also features Nithya Menen, Raashii Khanna, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Bharathiraja and Prakash Raj, in key roles.

With music by Dhanush's frequent collaborator Anirudh Ravichander, the film has cinematography by Om Prakash (who had teamed up with Dhanush in films like Anegan, Maari, Maari 2 and Pattas.)

In April, a short clip of a song from Thiruchitrambalam was leaked on the internet. In the leaked song video, Dhanush and Nithya Menon were spotted in festival attire.

Prasanna GK, who debuted with Maari, is the editor of Thiruchitrambalam.

Produced by Sun Pictures, Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies is releasing Thiruchitrambalam. In a recent interview, while promoting his upcoming venture Nenjukku Needhi, to be released on May 20, the actor-politician confirmed the same.

The story of Thiruchitrambalam is set in two time periods; namely the protagonist’s college days and his adulthood. Dhanush’s character has two love interests, one during the college portions and another in the latter part of his life.

Dhanush's last few films have skipped the theatrical release; all the more why his fans are looking forward to seeing Thiruchitrambalam on the big screen. Dhanush recently starred in Karthick Naren's Maaran, Karthik Subbaraj's Jagame Thandhiram, Anand L Rai's Hindi romantic drama, Atrangi Re.

Dhanush is also part of Selvaraghavan's Naane Varuven and the multilingual, Vaathi, with Venky Atluri, and the Hollywood thriller, The Gray Man, helmed by Anthony and Joe Russo. Besides these, he announced that he would be teaming up again with director Mari Selvaraj, after Karnan. The pre-production has begun on the film, and shooting will start next year.
