It would appear that team Dhoomam has chosen to keep the pre-release promotion low-key and let the film's merit do the talking. The makers, Hombale Films, released the trailer of the film recently on June 9 and announced that the film would arrive in cinema halls exactly two weeks later (June 23), taking many by surprise with the decision.
In an era when promotions have become critical to the success of a film, the team has evidently decided on letting the film take its natural course at the box office, hoping to see the positive word-of-mouth work its magic.
Hombale Films and Pawan Kumar, who has written and directed the film, will be making their Malayalam debut with Dhoomam. The film boasts an exciting ensemble that includes Fahadh Faasil, Aparna Balamurali, Roshan Mathew, Dev Mohan, Achyuth Kumar and others and is set to release in four different languages.
But the road to the theatrical release will include timely updates and one such has arrived in the form of a song release. The first single from the promising soundtrack, which is titled Theeye Dhaahamo in Malayalam and Enu Maadide in Kannada, dropped on June 13 at 5 pm and it is apparent that the makers wish to give us a taste of the mood & tone of the film through this track.
Poornachandra Tejaswi's rendition includes an intriguing blend of melancholy and mystique, with the lyrics focusing on aspects of life, hope and more. The Kannada version includes the lyrics of Yogaraj Bhat who has seemingly withheld the essence of the entire film behind his words, with the dangers of cigarette smoking coming being highlighted in a cryptic manner. Rajath Hegde has sung the Kannada version with Kapil Kapilan singing the Malayalam version and Vinayak Sasikumar penning the lyrics.
The Telugu and Tamil versions of the same song will be released on June 14 at 5 pm on Hombale Films' YouTube channel.
The music of Pawan Kumar's films in the past, particularly the background score, has been one of their main highlights. With the filmmaker collaborating with Poornachandra Tejaswi for the sixth time in his career, film aficionados would be quite keen on knowing what the duo has in store this time around.
