Dhruva Natchathiram is one of the long-pending projects of Tamil cinema, which is yet to see the light of day. Starring actor Vikram in the lead role, the film is directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and is touted to be a sleek spy action thriller. While the wait for the film continues, the director recently revealed that he is still very much on to bringing the film to the big screens and that the audience will probably get to watch it this year itself.
When this year’s Madha Gaja Raja released in theatres after 12 years of wait and to commercial success, director Gautham Vasudev had said that it is an inspiration for him to release Dhruva Natchathiram.
Starring actors Ritu Varma, R Parthiban, Radhika Sarathkumar, Simran and Vinayakan among others, Dhruva Natchathiram was initially pitched to Suriya in 2013, who later left the project. It was then revived in 2015 with Vikram and was in production until 2017. However, caught in financial issues and the pandemic adding to the sorrows, the film is yet to hit big screens.
In a recent video by a Tamil online film reviewer, Gautham Menon was caught up via telephone call, who said that he has signed up for anything for now, and that his focus is to bring Dhruva Natchathiram out. "We have shown the film to investors, and the film has come out good. We are sorting out the legal issues and I think between July and August, we will come,” Gautham Menon said.
Gautham Menon was recently seen in Santhanam-starrer DD Next Level and in the Malayalam film Bazooka alongside Mammootty. Both films are heading for an OTT premiere on ZEE5 and will soon be available on OTTplay Premium as well. While the Tamil horror comedy DD Next Level will drop on June 13, a date for Bazooka is yet to be announced.
