HanuMan composer Gowra Hari returns to Kannada cinema with Father

On April 27, the first production venture of R Chandru under his newly-launched RC Studios, Father, officially went on floors. Directed by Rajmohan and led by Darling Krishna, Prakash Raj, Amrutha Iyengar and Telugu actor Sunil, the film has another popular name on its crew in the form of music director Gowra Hari. He is the man behind the music of the hit Telugu film HanuMan.
Interestingly enough, Father is not Gowra Hari’s first Kannada film. More than a decade ago, it was R Chandru who brought him to Kannada cinema with the film Charminar. He was credited as Hari on the crew of the romantic drama that had Nenapirali Prem and Meghana Gaonkar in the lead. The soundtrack had 7 songs, all of which were also sung by Hari. The film was later remade in Telugu as Krishnamma Kalipindi Iddarini by Chandru, with Hari scoring the music yet again.
Speaking at the muhurtha of Father, Hari reminisced his days in Bengaluru, when he spent nearly a year-and-a-half working on the score of Charminar. “Chandru sir’s biggest strength is emotion, whether it is Taj Mahal, Mylari or Charminar, which is also why the songs of Charminar continue to be popular. After Charminar, in the last 10-12 years, I have been working in the Telugu film industry. But when he asked to work on this film, Father, which is also an emotional subject, I thought it was the right time to make a comeback, even though I am tied up with 4-5 Telugu films at the moment,” he said.
Although R Chandru has produced most of his earlier films, RC Studios has been launched with the sole intention of making movies on a pan-India level. He has announced 5 films under the banner, which is supported by Bollywood producer-distributor Anand Pandit and Alankar Pandian of Invenio Origin.
