The wait is almost over as Shah Rukh Khan is set to headline Pathaan, his first leading role after four years of sabbatical. With the film, the superstar will be back as an action hero after a very long time. Currently, Shah Rukh is in Saudi Arabia, where he was honoured at the Red Sea International Film Festival 2022. At the event, he spoke at length about his hiatus and quipped that his daughter Suhana Khan was the major reason why he took a break from acting.
SRK claimed that the motivation behind his break was his wish to spend more time with his children. His two oldest children attended college in America, but he found it impossible to visit them because of his busy filmmaking schedule. The Raees star said he waited for his daughter to contact him for eight months prior to his daughter moving from the UK to New York.
Shah Rukh joked that Suhana never called him. He reasoned that if he didn't sign any films, she might call. The actor went on to reveal that his daughter asked him why he wasn't working until he contacted her one day and asked her whether he could start working now. SRK then remarked that he figured Suhana would call him and be lonely in New York.
Talking about Pathaan, the film is directed by Siddharth Anand and is a part of Yash Raj Films' Spy Universe. The high-octane action thriller also stars Deepika Padukone as the female lead and John Abraham as the main antagonist. Pathaan is set to hit the big screen on January 25, 2023, during the Republic Day weekend.
Soon after that, SRK will be seen starring in Atlee's Jawan alongside Nayanthara. The superstar recently wrapped the Saudi Arabia schedule of Rajkumar Hirani's Dunki, which is set for a Christmas 2023 release.
