Director Razneesh Ghai: Kangana Ranaut would finish her Thalaivii shoot and start the prep for Dhaakad

With Dhaakad, director Razneesh Ghai, aka Razy, hopes to give Bollywood a strong female action hero. He has put together a polished film that has Kangana Ranaut in a no-holds-barred action role as Agent Agni if the teaser is any clue. There isn't anything the actor hasn't done as a fearsome on-screen spy, from holding firearms to gouging the enemy's eye out.

Ranaut was action-ready after months of hard practice. She had to train in Krav Maga and Jujutsu for the film while juggling the Thalaivii (2021) shoot.

A source told Mid Day that Kangana was carefully taught to pull off the part of a dangerous agent. Over the course of two months in 2020, she was taught Krav Maga and Jujutsu by international stunt choreographers Cameron Hilts, Jason Ng, and Stuart Williamson. 

Krav Maga, a kind of self-defence with roots in the Israeli army, emphasizes contact warfare, whereas Japanese martial arts emphasize striking powerful blows and leaving the opponent defenceless. 

Kangana not only learned the fundamentals of these self-defense techniques, but she also completed all of the stunts on her own. Because there are so many combat scenes in the film, she decided not to use body doubles.

Ghai recalls being amazed by his leading lady's commitment to her profession. Talking about her arduous training, he told the tabloid that they flew down to Hyderabad with the action choreographers and trainers. They used to start preparing for Dhaakad once she finished her Thalaivii shoot every day. 

The filmmaker shared that Ranaut is laser-focused and she never lets herself get fatigued at work. He was astounded by her dedication and ability to pack up from one film's shoot and start preparing for another on the same day. 

Arjun Rampal and Divya Dutta also appear in the multilingual film, which will be available in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam.
