Director Rian Johnson begins filming Knives Out 2 in Greece

Taking to Twitter on Monday, writer and director Rian Johnson has shared the first photo from the sets of Knives Out 2 and announced that the film has gone on floors with the shoot commencing in Greece, as per the schedule. Asequel of acclaimed movie Knives Out, the film will see the return of detective Benoit Blanc as he gets involved in a new adventure and attempts to untangle another murder mystery on the shores of Greece.

Knives Out 2 is only the second installment in a three-film contract signed by Rian Johnson with Netflix. The filmmaker had apparently finished writing the third script even before starting the production of Knives Out 2.

The deal was finalized after the first movie became a huge critical and commercial success, bagging more than $300 million, against its $40 million budget. It also got nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the 92nd Academy Awards.

With a stellar cast in place, many fresh faces are set to join the original cast, including Dave Bautista, Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Kate Hudson, Madelyne Cline and Jessica Henwick. Not much is known about the plot details yet, but some additional photos have also surfaced online in which cast members Kate Hudson, Kathryn Hahn and Daniel Craig can be seen filming a scene.

The release date of Knives Out 2 hasn’t been revealed by Netflix, but since the filming began as per the schedule, we can expect the streaming date to be announced soon.
