Disenchanted trailer: Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey are back after 15 years, it's race against time

The official trailer for Enchanted's second instalment Disenchanted, which will debut on Disney+ Hotstar in India on November 24, has been released by Disney. Amy Adams, a six-time Oscar nominee, returns as the popular Giselle from the 2007 romantic comedy. For the follow-up, Jayma Mays, Oscar Nuez, Yvette Nicole Brown, Gabrielle Baldacchino, and Maya Rudolph join the cast, along with Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden, and Idina Menzel.

After Giselle and Robert's happily ever after, Disenchanted picks up 15 years later when the couple and Robert's daughter Morgan (Gabrielle Baldacchino) relocate to the suburbs. The animated princess-to-be from Andalasia, Giselle, was magically transported to the city of New York in the first Enchanted, where she met and fell in love with lawyer Robert Philip (Dempsey).

The makers described the plot by stating that, after 15 years of marriage, Giselle and Robert decide to move their expanding family to the peaceful suburb of Monroeville in quest of a more idyllic existence. Giselle, however, has grown disenchanted with life in the city. Sadly, it isn't the simple solution she was hoping for. Giselle feels more out of place than ever in suburban areas because of a whole different set of laws and Malvina Monroe, the local queen bee. Frustrated that finding her happily ever after hasn't been so simple, she seeks aid from the magic of Andalasia, but inadvertently converts the entire town into a true fairy tale and jeopardises her family's future happiness. Giselle is currently in a race against time to break the spell and figure out what her and her family's definition of happily ever after entails.

In April 2021, Dempsey told Variety that it was simply extremely amazing to work with everyone again after 14 years. Right now, they need some escape, and to get folks out of the funk they are in, they need those musicals and romantic comedies.

Also disclosed to Variety, Dempsey will sing in the movie for the first time. For a reason, he has never performed in front of an audience. He was pleased to keep that in mind. The actor hopes the fans accept it. But the lyrics are incredibly entertaining, and they've prepared him for success. The choreography for the songs is excellent, and additionally, the premise will be intriguing.

Adam Shankman is the director of Disenchanted. The writers of the sequel are Stephen Schwartz and Alan Menken, with Menken also writing the score. Adams, Barry Sonnenfeld, and Barry Josephson are responsible for producing the movie.
