Ever since the trailer for Benedict Cumberbathc’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness came out, fans have been confident that The Illuminati will make an appearance in the movie. The latest teaser by Marvel Entertainment confirms the theory.

The teaser, titled “Time”, is short and crisp and offers a lot of clips that have already been used for promotion by the makers. But the teaser ends on a hair-raising note, with the makers confirming the appearance of The Illuminati.

In the teaser, Strange can be seen escorted in handcuffs by what looks like a version of Stark’s autonomous robots. He is soon met by Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Karl Mordo, who says, “Steven Strange, The Illuminati will see you now”.

This line confirms one of the most popular fan theories about the movie, about The Illuminati making its first MCU appearance. The teaser also gives the fans a countdown for the movie’s release, letting the viewers know that the movie will be out in 10 days.

The Illuminati are a fictional secret society and group of superheroes from the Marvel comics. Having formed the secret group shortly after the Kree-Skrull War, the group members includes Namor, who represented the anti hero mindset, Tony Stark, who represents the common man, Reed Richards, using his scientific skill sets, Black Bolt representing the Inhumans, Professor Charles Xavier representing the mutants and Doctor Strange representing the mystics of the worlds.

Directed by Sam Raimi, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness also stars Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Rachel McAdams.

The movie, which is one of the most-anticipated releases of the year, is set to hit theaters around the world on May 6, 2022.
