Adam McKay’s star-studded satirical political comedy Don’t Look Up released earlier this month has received mixed reviews. One of the much talked about points from the movie is about a shot of the film’s crew in the movie. The filmmaker has now confirmed that this was intentional and not a mistake.
McKay tweeted, “Good eye! We left that blip of the crew in on purpose to commemorate the strange filming experience. #DontLookUp”, as he shared a story that pointed it out as an editing mistake.
The clip, which appears at 1 hour and 28 minutes of the film, was being shared on social media platforms, with some fans pointing it out as a mistake that was left out in the hope that fans don’t notice it. McKay’s post has now confirmed the situation was anything but this.
The shot, which is on screen for only a blink and miss amount of time, has the film's crew visible, all masked up, following the COVID-19 protocol. These protocols could be an important part of the “strange filming experience” mentioned by the director.
Don’t Look Up is a satirical comedy narrated in a style the filmmaker is now known for, and follows two scientists who discover a comet of destructive measures headed straight towards the Earth. The two set out on a journey to avoid a catastrophic end, as they fight politicians, businesspeople and more on their way.
While Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence take the lead, the movie has an impressive cast that includes Jonah Hill, Cate Blanchett, Timothée Chalamet, Ron Perlman, Ariana Grande, Tyler Perry, Rob Morgan, and Mark Rylance. The film is available for streaming on Netflix.
