Was this level of unacceptable behaviour part of this film’s marketing strategy or is the timing that’s completely off?

No one gets away with spitting on Chris Pine, or so the internet says.

In a viral footage, Don’t Worry Darling actor Harry Styles can *allegedly* be seen spitting on his co-star Chris Pine while occupying a seat beside Pine, while director Olivia Wilde sat on the other side of the chair.

The video in question, which has been viewed for over 10 million times, reportedly saw Harry Styles drop a little spit on Chris Pine’s lap at the Venice Film Festival premiere Monday. A graceful Pine, however, smiled at this allegedly outrageous behaviour that the former One Direction-er exhibited in Pine.

What made it all the more difficult to move over the incident is Pine’s reaction, who stopped mid-clap and stared at his lap first and then smiled and laughed and nodded.

Social media, especially Twitter, feels Harry Styles has crossed a line with the actor.

‘I can’t look away pls help,’ one Twitter user wrote, while another added that he ‘won’t sleep until [they] know the truth’.

Others are, however, not so convinced.

“people actually think harry walked over there and decided to spit on chris for no reason, in front of multiple people?” one fan tweeted, another mockingly asking, “and chris made no movement to wipe it off and just sat there smiling and laughing? be f–king serious.”

Chris Pine made a few frown when during the premiere of Don’t Worry Darling, he zoned out while Harry Styles handled press questions at the press con. He also made headlines for clicking Florence Pugh’s pictures with a Polaroid camera while they were on the red carpet.

A Twitter user thinks Chris Pine was zoned out again and was probably thinking about his sunglasses.

‘Chris pine just wondered where his sunglasses were after the applause. And he zoned out (likes he’s been doing all day) and realised [sic] it’s in his lap. So I am sorry to say harry styles did not spit on him,’ explained the conspiracy theorist-esque user.

Produced by Warner Bros., Don’t Worry Darling hits theaters on September 23, 2022.
