Double XL: Shikhar Dhawan to make his Bollywood debut in Huma Qureshi, Sonakshi Sinha starrer; check out his first look

Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Qureshi’s Double XL offers audiences a lot to look forward to. In addition to tackling subjects such as body positivity and fat shaming through the lens of humour, the makers unveiled a special surprise for viewers in the film. It was announced that popular cricketer Shikhar Dhawan will make his Bollywood debut in the film.

Huma, who is also a producer of the film, made the announcement on her official social media handles, and unveiled Shikhar’s first look from the film as well. The first photograph seems to be a still from the film, and features Huma and Shikhar in a slow dance. The second photograph features the two sharing a candid moment with each other behind the scenes.

Huma captioned the post “Cat is out of the bag …. Finally(sic)”.

A few months back, reports had emerged that Shikhar would make his Bollywood debut in a film scheduled for release this year. Pinkvilla had reported that Shikhar would have a ‘full fledged role’ in the film,and not just a cameo.

Meanwhile, Double XL stars Huma and Sonakshi as Rajshri Trivedi and Saira Khanna respectively, two plus sized women who struggle to overcome hurdles caused due to body shaming. Rajshri has aspirations of becoming a sports presenter, Saira dreams of being a fashion designer. But the women have to deal with body shamers first before achieving their dreams.

In addition to Huma, Sonakshi and Shikhar, the film also stars Zaheer Iqbal and Mahat Raghavendra in prominent roles. The upcoming film is helmed by Satramm Ramani from a script written by Mudassar Aziz. Bhushan Kumar, Huma, Krishan Kumar, Vipul D Shah, Rajesh Bahl, Ashwin Varde, Saqib Saleem, and Mudassar have bankrolled the film under the banners of T-Series and Wakaoo Films.

Double XL will hit the big screen on November 4, 2022.
