Since its first day was so strong, Drishyam 2 had a great day with collections that increased by 40%. The movie had the kind of Saturday jump that was even difficult for smaller films that didn't debut. The growth on Saturday has been really challenging following the pandemic and is far from what it was previously, but for Drishyam 2, it's a completely different story.
As per Box Office India, even though it won't be until Monday that this is confirmed, the second-day collections of Rs. 21 crore nett, which is a terrific number, guarantee a sure-shot hit. The film's two-day earnings are 36 crore nett, and its weekend earnings are 60 crore nett. After this enormous expansion on Saturday, the question is simply whether it expands into the B and C centres or experiences the typical Sunday growth. The movie is performing decently at these theatres, but Sunday always offers a chance to take off, and that is why Sunday also experiences tremendous growth. It might not be the right kind of movie for these theatres, but it has already violated a lot of norms, so it won't be shocking if it breaks more.
Day two saw outstanding development all around, with East Punjab topping the pack with a 50% increase. After a strong start, Gujarat and Saurashtra also soared in the same area, and on Saturday, the circuit was almost at the 3 crore nett threshold. The circuits that didn't surge on Saturday, including Rajasthan, CP Berar, and CI, were also up 30 to 35%. Even though Ajay Devgn movies are less common in the South, it wouldn't be surprising if the highest-grossing one ever was shown in a place like Mysore.
Following are Drishyam 2's two-day collections at the domestic box office:
Friday: Rs. 15 crore approx
Saturday: Rs. 21 crore approx
Total: Rs. 36 crore approx
Meanwhile, as per production figures, the record-breaking Drishyam 2 is at work. The film broke the box office record on Day 2 thanks to positive reviews for the first instalment and strong word-of-mouth, grossing Rs. 21.59 crores across India. On Friday and Saturday, the movie brought in a whopping Rs. 36.97 crore at the box office.
To meet fan demand, multiplex companies have added midnight performances, and single screens are packed. In the upcoming days, the movie is anticipated to get more viewers.
