Dungeons and Dragons was an extremely popular board game since its creation back in 1974, having players roleplay as their favourite characters as they navigate storylines and threats from multiple creatures. Paramount Pictures are all set to reboot the film franchise based on the game, and have now released an official trailer for the upcoming movie.
The trailer kicks off with Chris Pine telling that he is part of a group of thieves and we soon learn that some enemies that they made on their way have come looking for revenge. Things soon turn ugly and we get to see the world that the makers have created for the viewers.
The trailer hints at a movie that will offer a visual experience to fans and especially be appealing to anyone who has played the boardgame in their life. The movie’s story is set based on the campaign setting of the Forgotten Realms, one of the most popular Dungeons and Dragons settings.
The Forgotten Realms, which is also known as The Realms, is a magical place where strange lands, dangerous creatures, and mighty deities all appear.
The first Dungeons and Dragons movie was made back in 2020, following which made-for-TV and direct-to-video sequels were made in 2005 and 2012 respectively. Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves will be a reboot to the film series.
Dungeons and Dragons were also a big part in the first season of the popular Netflix series Stranger Things, which has also helped the game come back to light in recent times.
Directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, the upcoming movie also stars Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, and Hugh Grant. The makers have also mentioned that the movie will be coming out in March 2023.
