Today, Prime Video debuted an intriguing trailer for its next original series, Dupahiya. Sonam Nair helms the show, while Avinash Dwivedi and Chirag Garg pen the scripts. Bombay Film Cartel, run by Salona Bains Joshi and Shubh Shivdasani, serves as executive producer. Dupahiya is a charming comedy-drama that skilfully blends comedic elements with dramatic elements, all set against the backdrop of a made-up village called Dhadakpur. Gajraj Rao, Renuka Shahane, Bhuvan Arora, Sparsh Shrivastava, Shivani Raghuvanshi, and Yashpal Sharma are among the actors who brought the original series to life with its hilarious, chaotic, and intriguing plot points. Prime Video subscribers will be the first to see the new series when it launches on March 7, 2025.

Plot of Dupahiya: Village in chaos

Set on the brink of commemorating 25 years of crime-free living, the caravan opens in the made-up village of Dhadakpur, sometimes called the Belgium of Bihar. However, seven days before the big day, a motorbike, bought as a wedding present, disappears, causing chaos. This comedic tale centres on the dreams and ambitions of regular people as they embark on a quest to locate the Dupahiya, with the wedding's fate hanging in the balance.

Gajraj Rao and Renuka Shahane on their roles

Banwari Jha is the bride's father in Dupahiya, and Rao is overjoyed to be a part of the show. The actor found immense joy in portraying this character, a math teacher who disregards logic in favour of his daughter's happiness. It deftly mixes comedic and emotional moments to depict the peculiarities, mayhem, and allure of small-town life. He hopes that viewers will join him on the wild and hilarious journey when Dupahiya premieres.

Pushplata, the sarpanch played by Shahane, is completely different from her previous roles, she remarked. Playing the lovable but stubborn sarpanch of Dhadakpur has given her the chance to test and hone her acting chops. Every scene of the series shows the joy of working with Nair and the rest of the talented cast. Dupahiya is a fantastic rural comedy that highlights the ambitions, desires, and hopes of rural India.

Character highlights of Shivani Raghuvanshi, Sparsh Shrivastava, and Bhuvan Arora

Playing Roshni Jha in Dupahiya has been an absolute joy for Raghuvanshi, who remarked on her role as the bride. The character's unique perspective and self-assuredness make her an endearing and entertaining protagonist. She's unlike any character the actor has portrayed previously; she's naive but strong, unaffected by her problems and not hesitant to say what's on her mind and the process of giving her life was thrilling and difficult. Coming up with the story and working with the amazing crew on Dupahiya has been an extraordinary experience. It was an unforgettable experience because of the positive vibes she felt on set. Coming back to Prime Video after Made in Heaven is like going home for Raghuvanshi, except this time there's wedding drama of a completely other type!

Dupahiya has been an amazing adventure for Shrivastava, who plays Bhugol, made special by a wonderful cast and crew. What struck him was that it was his first comedy-drama series and challenged him. Bhugol, the protagonist of the story, is charming and quirky; he is an aspiring influencer with a vibrant, style-conscious attitude and a sweet, innocent spirit. It was a pleasure for the actor to bring him to life, and he hopes that audiences will enjoy the mayhem of Dhadakpur and Dupahiya.

Arora had a wonderful time exploring his layered personality, as he portrays Amavas in the series. His character in Dupahiya is distinct from any other he has portrayed, relying more on silence than words for communication. Produced and acted by several incredibly gifted individuals, the show is entertaining, funny, and touching—the result of a genuine labour of love. It makes the actor's heart sing knowing people all throughout the globe, including in India, will be able to share in this delightful adventure with them.
