Late last night, Twitter was abuzz with posts that advance booking for Challenging Star Darshan’s Kranti had opened. There were even screenshots of the shows that could be booked online at Chandrodaya in Bengaluru, with a 6 am show to kickstart this revolution. But this was not to be seen later on, much to the disappointment of fans, who have been waiting with bated breath to book FDFS tickets. A little while ago, Kranti producer Shylaja Nag confirmed that advance bookings will open on all online platforms tomorrow, Sunday, January 22.

Although Shylaja has refrained from divulging the release plan, in terms of number of theatres, etc., industry trackers estimate that Kranti will be in at least 350-400 screens in Karnataka this Thursday. During the trailer launch of the film, the producer had categorically stated that her focus was only on the Kannada version of Kranti, even though it has been dubbed in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi. A decision on whether to give these versions theatrical releases, or to take them directly to OTT will be based on the reception to the film, she reiterated. The team is also yet to announce if the Kannada version will be released across the country and overseas on the same day. Fans are also hoping that Kranti’s first show will be at midnight, even though there’s been no indication to this effect from the team.

In fact, during one of the promotional events of the film, Darshan had also said that he will not be heading to any theatre for the first show, as it would be impossible for him to ensure that his fans’ do not cause damage to property in their excitement of seeing him. The film is set to open in theatres on January 26, in direct competition with Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, which gets a day’s head-start and releases on January 25.
