Ravi Teja, who had three releases this year—Waltair Veerayya, Tiger Nageswara Rao, and Ravanasura—will begin 2024 with an action drama, Eagle. He’s joining hands with cinematographer, editor and director Karthik Gattamneni for the film produced by People Media Factory. Anupama Parameswaran and Kavya Thapar play the female leads in the film, which also stars Srinivas Avasarala, Navdeep, and Madhoo.

The trailer for Eagle was launched today. Navdeep tells Anupama how violence ends only when the wielder behind the gun is put to rest. Ravi Teja makes his presence felt with a bombastic voice-over: ‘I consume poison..I roam around the world..I kill people and turn a protector..I am destruction..I’m also the catastrophe that ends all destruction.’

There are montages where Ravi Teja is on a globe-trotting spree while he’s respected and worshipped by a group of people in a village. We’re later introduced to his past: he has a partner who’s allergic to guns, but it changes after they’re a couple. Many years later, an officer calls him a ruthless assassin; another opines that his tale feels like a ‘fantasy action story.’

His story has a connection to a cotton crop and a young woman is keen to know about his past and the carnage he caused. He’s chased by many; who’s he after all? Justifying his acts, Ravi Teja has another dialogue before the trailer ends: ‘A demon is one who uses weapons to cause destruction..A God is one who uses weapons to end destruction.. God is stubborn and not noble.’

The slick action sequences, mounted lavishly, are a delight to watch. While Navdeep’s KGF-style ‘elevatory’ dialogues with a straight face feel over the top, Eagle promises to be an intense feast for the masses. Ajay Gosh plays another important role. Karthik is also the co-writer (with Manibabu Karanam) and one of the cinematographers for the film, alongside Karm Chawla and Kamil Plocki.
