Baby Driver became an instant hit when it was released in 2017. With its fast-paced action, music, and editing, the movie also became a fan favourite of Edgar Wright's.

The director has now returned with the nostalgic horror film Last Night in Soho and has also started work on a sequel to Baby Driver.

Talking to Interview Magazine with No Time to Die director Cary Joji Fukunaga, Wright opened up about the sequel and his chances to return as director.

“If I did the sequel and in fact, I've already written a script, I'd have to find a way to make it fun for me.”

He added that the idea of doing a straight Xerox is not interesting as these films take at least two years and even longer considering the pandemic.

Wright also said that his rule of thumb is that you want to do it and that he and Fukunaga have both been in situations where they have walked away from studio franchise movies because they weren't feeling it.

Baby Driver follows a young getaway driver called Baby, played by Ansel Elgort, who is looking to get away from a life of crime.

The movie was a critical and commercial success when it was released and reportedly made $266.9 million on a $34 million budget.

The movie was also nominated for awards such as Best Film Editing, Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing at the Oscars and won the BAFTA for Best Editing.
