Eko - Gripping mystery linked to Malaysia

The Eko trailer once again begins with a shot of a picturesque Malaysian island, much like the earlier released teaser. The Malayalam film clearly has a link to the south eastern Asian country and more specifically the dogs from the land. The trailer hinted yet another mystery from the makers of Kishkindha Kaandam. The trailer doesn’t give away much though a swirling mystery surrounding the dogs from Malaysia and its link to the remote Kerala village is highlighted throughout the 1:58-second video. Actors Vineeth, Narain, Binu Pappu, and Ashokan play other key roles in the film, and appear in the trailer as well.

Another Animal story

The makers have already declared that Eko is the final chapter in writer Bahul Ramesh’s Animal trilogy, which began with Asif Ali’s film Kishkindha Kaandam (a link to monkeys) and the thriller series Kerala Crime Files 2 - The Search for CPO Ambili Raju (dogs). The trailer once again highlights the dogs, as various characters talk about the breeds of dogs from Malaya, the Tibetan Rottweiler at the Madras naval base and how dogs seem to judge humans better than men themselves.

Who is Kuriachan?

The tagline of Eko says the Infinite Chronicles of Kuriachan, and the trailer also keeps mentioning about the person. Though we do not get to see Kuriachan, the trailer keeps referencing the character, painting him as a mysterious person but crucial to the narrative. Kuriachan was involved in supplying dogs to various people including the Navy.

Link to 1960s Naxal movement?

The trailer also talks about Kuriachan’s link to Thayissery police station, while mentioning that several of his acquaintances were on camp duty during the time. We see visuals of police personnel in khaki trousers, and the pointed caps. The police station could be a reference to the Naxal movement in Kerala during the 1960s, and the yesteryear uniforms of the cops further give proof of this.
