Elvis Presly is definitely one of the most well known and influential figures in America’s cultural history. The story of the King of Rock and Roll is coming to the big screen next month in the form of the biographical film, Elvis. A new trailer for the same gives a glimpse into the intriguing life of the musical icon.

The trailer shows the rise of the musician to become one of the most recognised cultural icons in America. His flamboyance comes second only to his iron willed nature, as the musician tries to hold his own against his enigmatic manager Colonel Parker. Their strong personalities lead to an inevitable clash between the two. Viewers also get to see some tumultuous moments in the rock icon’s life as well.

The upcoming film features Austin Butler as Elvis Presly, with Academy Award winner Tom Hanks essaying the role of Parker. Olivia DeJonge stars as Priscilla Presley, the rockstar’s wife. Helen Thomson stars as Elvis’ mother Gladys with Richard Roxburgh featured as his father Vernon. Yola Quartey, Luke Bracey, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Dacre Montgomery, and David Wenham also essay pivotal roles in the film.

The film is directed by Academy Award nominated filmmaker Baz Luhrmann. The director has been nominated for Grammy awards as well for the soundtracks of his films The Great Gatsby and Moulin Rouge. Luhrmann has also penned the film’s script along with Sam Bromell, Craig Pearce, and Jeremy Doner. Luhrmann, Academy Award winner Catherine Martin, Gail Berman, Patrick McCormick, and Schuyler Weiss have produced the film.

Elvis will be released in theatres on June 24, 2022.
